Gal Gadot Arrived in Hollywood With a Very Unusual Résumé
Before any of the film work, Gal Gadot was crowned Miss Israel in 2004 and served two years in the Israel Defense Forces, where she worked as a combat fitness instructor. She has said the military background is what got her the audition for Fast and Furious in 2009, because the casting team wanted someone who could handle weapons convincingly. She played Gisele Yashar across several films in that franchise before Wonder Woman arrived in 2017 and turned her into a name that travelled everywhere. The interesting part is the gap. She spent nearly a decade in supporting roles first, learning the job in a franchise that did not depend on her, which is a longer apprenticeship than most breakout stars get.
