First competition
Nadia’s first competition was the Romanian National Junior Championships in 1969. She was only seven years old when she competed. She finished 13th, however. Despite her low ranking, her failure seemed to motivate her even more.
Nadia returned to train harder than ever before, and the following year, at the age of eight, she won first place, blowing away the competition and winning in the most spectacular fashion imaginable.
