Long before streaming, two Chilean networks went to war every weeknight over the country’s living rooms. Canal 13 and Televisión Nacional de Chile (TVN) each rolled out a new telenovela every six months, and the rivalry, nicknamed the Guerra de las teleseries, produced a run of shows and faces that Chilean women still swoon over decades later. So what became of the actors who lived through that golden age? Here is where 47 of them ended up.
Alejandra Herrera, 49

Alejandra Herrera became a household name in the 1990s playing Alexis Opazo in Adrenalina, a telenovela that pulled off something rare at the time: it let Canal 13 beat its rival TVN, Televisión Nacional de Chile, in the nightly ratings war Chileans call the Guerra de las teleseries. That hit sent her career soaring, and she went on to headline several more telenovelas for the same network. After ten years at the very top, she walked away from television to raise her family full time. That choice, made years ago now, appears to be final. Alejandra has shown zero interest in returning to acting, and by all accounts she is completely at peace with the decision.
