Gene Wilder
The Late Gene Wilder wasn’t just a legendary comedic actor, he spent 2 years of his life serving his country, too!
He entered service by his original name, Jerome Silberman – he trained at Fort Sam Houston, after which he was assigned to the medical corps at Valley Forge Army Hospital in Pennsylvania.
He left the Army in 1958 with an honorable discharge and adopted the stage name, Gene Wilder. His first film debut was the memorable Eugene Grizzard in Bonnie and Clyde in 1967.
